Year 2 Owl Visit
To begin our animal topic 'Life on Earth' we were visited by Lisa from Liberty Owl and Raptor Centre in Ringwood. She had heard that we are beginning our topic with our whole class reader - 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson and brought 3 wonderful owls to visit us.
The first was Frodo and he was a Northern White Faced Owl from Africa. He had orange eyes, which means he likes to fly and hunt at dusk.

Then we met Woody the tawny owl. He was quite big and very sleepy. Tawny owls are the most common owls in the UK.

Finally, we met Caspar the barn owl, he has a heart shaped ruff. He was very excited and wanted to fly around! Plop, the main character from 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' is a barn owl.

It was very exciting to have these lovely owls visit our school and we cannot wait to see and learn about many more creatures on our Marwell Zoo trip next week!
