We were very excited on Friday 29th April to welcome back Sandie Elkins, our Soundstorm music teacher from the Spring term and the visiting trio of musicians to help perform our Around the World extravaganza! We performed our warm-up song "You've got a friend in me" together followed by Year 1's Spanish 'Twinkle Twinkle' song 'Estregita' and Year 2's nonsense Columbian playground chant 'A la lata, al latero' which translates as:
To the tin can, to the tin maker,
To the daughter of the chocolate-maker,
To the lime, to the lemon,
To the daughter of Don Semon.
In between we enjoyed listening to the trio perform some of the movements from the 'Around the World in 8 days' which was composed for the project by the violinist, Stefan Defilet.
Finally, we enjoyed coming together to perform the chorus (with actions!) from the song Do-Re-Mi- from the 'Sound of Music'.
Do, a deer, a female deer
Re, a drop of golden sun
Mi, a name, I call myself
Fa, a long, long way to run
So, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow So
Ti, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do!
Enjoy browsing through the photos and video clips and see if your child can sing all the songs for you too!
