Little Red Riding Hood Writing Competition

The children in Year 1 and Year 2 were challenged to create their own piece of writing based around the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood.

The competition inspired the children to become creative writers and there were over 80 different entries. These included traditional retellings, alternative versions, poems, letters, character descriptions and even a rap!

20 lucky winners were chosen to go on a school trip to see a pantomime version of Little Red Riding Hood at Poole Lighthouse.

The children got the train from Christchurch station to Poole and walked to Poole Lighthouse. It was very exciting!

The pantomime was fantastic (oh yes it was!) and the children enjoyed the show, particularly shouting at the wolf and trying to warn Little Red Riding Hood!

All those children that entered the competition received a ‘Superstar Writer’ certificate and were treated to a showing of Hoodwinked as a FAB Friday treat!

What fantastic writers we have at Christchurch Infant School!
