Irish Dancing in Year 1

Year 1 have been learning about Northern Ireland as part of our 4 Nations topic. As part of our learning we enjoyed some Irish dancing lessons this week run by Kate O'Leary, of O'Leary Academy of Irish Dancing. The children learnt a routine involving an Irish jig, an Irish reel and lots of 'hop 1-2-3's' and pointing of the toes. All of year one gave it a go and had a craic! Well done everyone!

Thank you also to Erin from Rabbits class who performed a fantastic solo dance in front of all 4 classes, a video of her superb dancing is shown below. Erin recently took part in a National Irish Dancing competition and secured first place in her age group and second place in the under 7 category. What an achievement, well done!
